Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch — film production designers turned architects — founded Roman and Williams and designed Ace Hotel New York, the High Line Hotel, La Mercerie, and dozens of restaurants that defined the 2010s industrial-romantic hospitality look. Their Guild storefront is the New York gift shop the city deserved.
