A House Beautiful editor turned decorator, Ruby Ross Wood ghostwrote Elsie de Wolfe's "The House in Good Taste," then built her own practice in New York and trained Billy Baldwin as her assistant. Her rooms favored quiet color, painted floors, and what she called "the look of a room that has always been there."
